Archaic Bridge
One of my favourite items already - and all it took was a couple of hours. I have used corrugated cardbard, kebab skewers, cardboard, glue, lentels, splitpeas and a balsa strip. And a knife, of course. The finished bridge is 3" wide. The full instructions are on Terra Genesis.

This is the parts from which the Archaic Bridge is constructed. Notice the cardboard pieces ready to become the walkway part of the bridge. The semicircles are ready - it is time to glue it together. Tip: If you do not have a piece of corrugated cardboard long enough for the walkway, try using two pieces, gluing them together at the middle with the aid of two kebab skewers. Works like a charm! |

A close-up of the walkway, showing the 5 cm squares of cardboard, which are scored with a knife and folded to give the creases. |

This is the bridge after applying a bit of glue. Basically, it is the same as before, apart from the fact that the semicircles are upright and three kebab skewers have been placed between them to keep the distance between the semicircles the same. |

A close-up of the semicircle. Note the lentels (rivets) and the cardboard covering the corrugated ends of the cardboard. The kebab skewers strenghten the bridge and look good as well. |

Now the bridge has been finished - apart from painting. I have used a strip of balsawood on each side instead of cardboard. The balsawood is more expensive and heavier, but also more durable and stable. Notice the split peas and the lentels. All the bridge now needs is to be painted. |
I promise to upload pictures of the painted bridge as soon as I have finished it. So far I've spraypainted it black and then tried to save some time by "drybrushing" with a silver spray... And now I'm inking/washing with black. Finally, I will be washing with Chestnut Brown ink to create a rusty look - it looks way to clean, crisp and new at the moment.
