Van Saar Terrain

The idea for this piece of terrain is simple - a garage for the Van Saar bikes, tanks and cars.

I have used foamcore with corrugated cardboard (the small corrugations work best), glue, cardboard, dressmaker's pins and a bit of paint to create this building. And an empty Cokebottle, a sharp knife, a few clothespegs and a bit of patience.

To make the curved roof, I glued a piece of corrugated cardboard on to a piece of thick cardboard and strapped them onto a Cokebottle. Then I left it there to dry. The walls are about 3 inches high. I used the curved roof as a model for the curve of the endpieces and the length of the sidepieces. I glued corrugated cardboard onto the foamcore sidepieces right away.

24 hours later I attached the foamcore endpieces to the curved roof. I decided to make the roof detachable and simply cut the endpieces at the height of the walls. I cut the holes for the door and the windows in the endpieces before gluing corrugated cardboard on to them. By doing it that way, I could make the doors part of the corrugated cardboard.

Once I had the structure ready, I tried on the roof. Not a perfect fit, but it will do.

After painting, it looks quite nice. Picture upcoming...
