MORDHEIM TERRAIN (unfinished)

The inn from the Mordheim starting set. I've based it on 5 mm wood (masonite my dad calls it) and then added 2 x 2 cm tiles all around the building. The interior floor is painted in a reddishbrown color to represent a dirt floor. I added a small half-wall and a horse trough to the front of the inn. Inside the inn I placed two benches and a table, complete with a tray containing mugs, one overturned. Unfortunately, the pictures of the back is too dark to be of any use. |

Another view of the inn. After adding the tiles, I brushed on a thinnish layer of filler (polyfilla) to give it structure and have something to drybrush. This colorscheme is achieved by Shadow Grey drybrushed with Space Wolves Grey, but I find it too blueish and has started using Codex Grey instead of Space Wolves Grey. The unpainted barrel was bought in a hobby shop: The unpainted boxes are homemade from a 1x1 square balsa stick. I cut pieces of about 2 cm lenght from the stick, carved individual boards into it with my modelling knife and then added a thin card endpiece at each end. Looks better painted... |

One of the ruined corners from the Mordheim starting set. As you can see, I added balsa floor and broken support beams. I also created a ladder from two pieces of kebab skewer and some slices of thick card. I used the chimneypiece to add the illusion of another wall. And then I made a broken marble table and added it to the ground level |

Another view of this building. It is a bit dark, but with a bit of imagination you can see that I changed the fireplace. I cut the painted fireplace out and glued it to the support (in the middle of the chimneypiece). Then I added a shelf about the fireplace made from a bit of popsicle stick and supported it with two pieces of matches. This picture also shows the dirt floor, which is cracked at some point. This picture is a bit premature, as the building needed a lot of details to be added and drybrushing to be really finished. |

The gateway from the Mordheim expansion Blood in the Streets. I based it on a piece of thick card, which has a slight tendency to warp, unfortunately. The piece was tiled and then I added some rubble, partly decoration stones and partly sprue rubble. When the piece is finished, a skeleton of a dead warrior will be sitting on one side of the gateway, resting that final time. I also intend to add some gravel, a dusting of Bubonic Brown and a bit of weed. The card edges has been touched-up in Shadow Grey. |

One of my barricades in the background (inspired by an article in White Dwarf). The barrel is a two-lid variant - the lids came from juicebottles and are smaller than coke-bottle lids. More suitable for Mordheim. In the front the column from the Mordheim starting set. I based it on thick card - again warping, unfortunately - and added a row of tiles all around it. I intend to add gravel, dust and a bit of weeds to the piece later on. |

A clearer view of the column. You might be able to see that I've touched-up the card edges with a bit of black. I found that it matched the colorscheme of the column well. |

A building from the "Blood in the Streets" supplement. I decided that this building looks like a prison, so I added bars instead of windows. Unfortunately, I did not get the revelation until AFTER I had glued on windows and I had to apply some force to remove the windows... The bars need to be painted Boltgun Metal with Mithril Silver highlights and then I need to paint the windowpanes (small scraps of balsawood) in a suitable color. As all my Mordheim terrain, the prison has been based on wood with tiles around it, giving it a solid look. |

This is an example of the difference between a based ruin and a assembled, but not based and not finished ruin. This ruin belongs to my friend Morten, who found a sandy colored spraypaint for his plastic parts, asked me to assemble the pieces on grounds of clumsiness and then just left it like this... As you can see, he has not even touched-up the card edges... And, as it is also obvious from this picture compared to the one above it - a based building looks so much more solid and "real" than an unbased one. |

A picture of my ruined wall next to a Heroquest character used as a Witchhunter. The ruined wall was originally made for Necromunda. The wall is made from scraps of foamcore based on corrugated cardboard. I covered everything with white paint (Elmer's) and then added ordinairy sand for structure. The gravel is kitty litter. The entire piece was spraypainted black and then drybrushed. I will add weeds, a giant rat and a bit of dust to finish it off. |
