A Tribute to Angel Stitches

- and a bit about my hand in this...

Written by Caitlin on August 19, 2001

Well, I've known Connie since not so long after Cassy died. I met her at Themestream, where she was pouring out her grief and her heartache. I wept with her for each heartbreaking article. And we talked about perhaps doing a website for her articles about Cassy, to allow her to share her daughter.

Then Themestream died and we both moved on to Written By Me. Real life interferred, as it often does, and I had a bit of a guilty conscience about not having done the website for Connie that I wanted to do and that I had sort of promised.

Now, in August 2001, I've finally finished the C++ programmers course and have a bit of time on my hands while pursuing a good job. So I mailed Connie and asked her if she would like me to start working on that website. And she said yes.

I started a new site in Dreamweaver (a really good WYSIWYG HTML program, which I use) and named it, conscious or not, Cassondra Annette Small as the working title. And that's when a sort of strange thing happened. Perhaps I had subconsciously known this before naming the site after Cassy. But since then, whenever I upload a new file, my program writes me this reassuring message:

"Connecting to Cassondra Annette Small".

And in a very wonderful way I do feel connected to Cassondra. Through her mothers stories, through the time I've spent getting to know her taste and her interests. Through her pictures - and through that, which for lack of a better word I'll call spiritual communication.
