This poem was written one week after Cassy died. I can feel the pain in her words. And the pain of having to believe.

I heard the news a week ago today
They said that you went away,
I can’t believe it’s really true
I guess deep down, I always knew.

I’ll always treasure those few years
We shared the laughter & the tears
I felt so good just having you near
Sometimes I get that feeling & I know you’re here.

I want so bad to touch your hair
To let you know that I am there
In my heart you’ll always stay
Until I see you again someday.
