A very special Angel

I Had to Let Her Go

Poem by Connie Small

After three hours of labor,
The world did my child grace.
The nurse needed to weigh her
And wash her delicate face.
I didn't want to, but I had to let her go.

Her first day of school,
I gave her a kiss and hug
I walked her to the bus
My cute little cuddle bug
I didn't want to, but I had to let her go.

The years flew by in a rush,
Boys started calling at the door.
They wanted to date my baby!
Who wasn't a baby anymore
I didn't want to, but I had to let her go.

She grew her wings too soon
She was ready for the test
Was she all grown up enough
To leave the safety of her nest?
I didn't want to, but I had to let her go

All too soon I realized
Her wings weren't the earthly kind
For an Angel took her by the hand
A home in Heaven she'd now find.
I didn't want to, but I had to let her go.
